OOU PERFORMING ART INDUCTION NITE
The 27th of April 2012 is a day to remember, a night of glamour as the performing art department of Olabisi Onabanjo University inducted the freshers into the department. The event was a blissful one as celebrities from the Nigerian entertainment industry graced the event, like the famous Oosha Bunmi; lade Ogunde in the Yoruba industry, lecturers from different schools and the host of others.
Students were over joyed meeting other students from various schools like Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Lagos State University (LASU). The event was anchored by popular OOU comedians Baffy and Jide Old School; Side attractions include performances from Pacesetter, Dugbe International Entertainment Troupe (DIET), musical acts from Jay November, Didi, Brain.
A brief speech by Lada Ogunde son of the great Yoruba actor Hubert Ogunde said that theatre art is a noble profession and needs to be held in high esteem and the inductees should make morality their watch word because they become mentors from the day they have been inducted into the theatre industry.
Speaking with OOU Vanguard, a final year performing art directing student Uzoh Madu said “the organizing of the event was very stressful, sleepless nights, all night rehearsals but am glad the event was a success and everyone who attended had a course to smile home.
Also Speaking, a student 300level philosophy student Awosanya Damilola said “since I have been attending performing art induction this is the best I have attended it was well organized and am surprised lots of people have to travel far and wide to attend the induction
The event which started at about 9pm and lasted till dawn with dance dance dance all through.
