                                        Interview with Sesan Rufai
,                  CEO Goldmine Entertainment and LimeLite Hotels.
“My Life Is Divine, IT Has Never Been Planned”

Keeping to time is the watch word; arriving the Office at exactly the appointed time, else we would have missed the interview with the busy, energetic man who was travelling that very hour. Patiently waiting at the reception, preparing all interview materials; Wow! Here comes the man of valour; with a baritone voice “Good Morning, OOU Vanguard please come in”.
Oh Yes! Join Us as we go one on one with Mr SESAN RUFAI.

Let’s meet you Sir
I am Sesan Rufai by name, born and breed in Ago Iwoye Ogun state, I attended Ogun state university now Olabisi Onabanjo University where I bagged a Bachelor degree in Accounting 1993, I had my masters in Business Admin from Unilag; I am a family man and a workaholic.

How was OOU in your days?
As I said earlier it was formally Ogun State University, in my days OSU was vibrant, I could remember then in my class (accounting) we were just 22 unlike now where we find more than 150 students in a class and then my department was in Abusi, I have to trek from Ago to Ijebu-igbo every day, I was not born from a silver spoon family but I have parents who so much believe in education is the best legacy. My days in school was bubbling, I was one of the entertainment icons, I could remember I brought Obesere, Ayuba and other artiste to OSU, I was also one of those who stated a magazine called “Tickles” and the magazine was doing fantastic. Anyways, it was all fun both academically and socially.

How long have you been into the Entertainment Industry?
I have been into the industry since 1994, I was one of those who started ray power with Dayo Adeneye, Keke Ogungbe , I was also part of the team who started AIT in 1995, so since then it has been from one entertainment scene to another. By then I wanted to specialize in banking since I read accountancy but I had the flair for entertainment, my colleague Dayo Adeneye “D1” said to me “Hey! Bro, so many people are rushing into banking why not settle with entertainment, an industry people are not familiar with, unlike now where lots of people are trooping into the industry, so I continued with entertainment and since then it has been from one success to another which has produced Gold Mine Entertainment and Lime Lite Hotels.

Can you tell us how Gold Mine and LimeLite came about?
In 2000 when I was the Marketing Manager of Silver bird Television I was running Gold Mine; Video wheels, Flatmates, Box offices and other programs. So while I was working I have always said to myself that I will leave this office one day and work on my own, since then I started processing it, that was how Gold Mine started. Then for Lime Lite, in 2006 when I came to Ago and found out that Entertainment in Ago Iwoye is nowhere to be found, it was just dull. If anybody want to have an event they will have to travel down to Ijebu Igbo, ijebu Ode, Sagamu, and I asked myself “how do I bridge this gap and make it within their reach” I had no money but I had the concept and vision. I consulted a lot of people but they said if I want to do an Event centre or hotel in Ago-Iwoye, I will be wasting my money, time and energy, they said Ago is local and nobody or only a few may appreciate it. I saw the vision and can’t just allow it to die, I prayed to GOD and He directed me, in 2007 I bought a land here and started building, so one night at around 2am God told me to call the name “LimeLite”. I was like, Huh! Lime Lite? Wow! That means you are taking me to “Limelight” and since then everything I do till date is in “Lime Light”, so Lime lite was never planned it was as a result of circumstance. It was just the grace of God and now everyone has embraced it.

What is one success “Lime Lite” has done for the people of Ago- Iwoye?
Fine, this is the first interview I am saying this. Do you know that lots of eminent people In Ago have gone to the world beyond because of travelling here and there mostly at night, from Ago to Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, Abeokuta even Lagos all because there is no place to lay their heads all through the night after an event or unforeseen circumstances, but Lime Light in Ago Iwoye has helped so many people not just in Ogun State but travellers across the country. We are not saying we are 5 Stars, 6stars Hotel but we have been able to provide enough comfort for people. There are others but this is the main success Lime Lite has done for the people of Ago Iwoye.

We learnt “LimeLite Unplugged” is coming soon in OOU; could you give us an insight on it?
By October this year (2012) we are bringing the best of artistes, comedians, and entertainers to OOU, one of the best concert so far, I wanted to use “OOU Unplugged” but since it will be in LimeLite l made it  “Lime Lite Unplugged”, this year we are bringing, 9ice, Wizkid, Gbenga Adeyinka, Edris Abdulkareem, Wasiu Ayinde, and the host of others, we are basically celebrating a modest achievement, an avenue were OOUITES will have the opportunity to meet their lovable artistes.

Worst Experience with OOUITES?
I don’t have, but one thing people do not know is that i endure a lot. I take students of OOU as my friends, brothers, sons and daughters. There is something we call “Youthful Exuberant”, if there  is an event they break bottles, scatter places, indulge in fights, they want to cause one problem or the other, I just take it as students things but these are events to enjoy themselves it shouldn’t warrant to all that. But no regret, it is just like asking if I have any regret bringing entertainment to my town. LimeLite was built basically for OOUITES.
What does it takes to be successful?
If God says you will be successful it will just come like a miracle, firstly you need to be close to God then other things follows, you need to be careful with the people you associate with because there are people who will want to bring you down. Then patience, hard work, to be candid with you for three(3) years I had no job, my wife was the one feeding be but look at me now it just God grace. Lastly be consistent, not that you do something today then you disappear, always do something new. By April 1st LimeLite will be 5years, and we are always doing new things, check our site, social networks and the rest. All is just God grace.

What will you love to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as someone who believes in “Change” as someone who has been able to impart in the lives of people positively and also in my society. I want to be a role model to people most especially the youths that is why I watch my movement, am always careful with what I do.

How Do You Unwind?
In fact I am a busy man, a workaholic, even as I speak am ought to be at a meeting (Ah!!!all laughs…) but in spite of that I rest. I unwind whenever I come to Lime lite; I swim, and rest not just work, work, and work. I need to have time for myself. I also take my family out to Silver bird Galleria, Cinemas, Beach, amusement park to relax.

Your best Food?
Ha! I am an Ijebu man; I love “Egeberekpo” and “Egusi”

What is your Greatest Achievement?
I have just started, Lime Lite is an achievement but my greatest is yet to come. I want to have a radio station in Ogun State which will cover other states, so there are lots of things I am yet to achieve, am still a struggling man.

Advice to OOUITES
They should believe in themselves, not because someone is a musician you want to be a musician to, do what you love to do best, do something you believe in and go with your passion. Lastly I must say this, it is a must, OOU Vanguard you guys are really trying, honestly I strongly believe in you, keep it up and never let the zeal and dream die. God Bless Ogun State, God Bless OOU, And God Bless OOUITES.

Thank You for Your Time?
You are welcome anytime
